With most manufacturers, the brand and part number is printed directly on the cartridge and on the packaging. Some manufacturers (e.g. Hewlett Packard) use a 2-digit or 3-digit (short number) Nr. in addition to the complete article number.

For most printers, the printer name and manufacturer are printed on the device. And if you can't find it there, just look under "Devices and printers" on your PC.
